Unusual square clock made from recycled plastic cups

It’s great to see the unusual and ingenious uses currently being found for used vending machine coffee cups from the UK’s Save-A-Cup scheme.

AShortWalk, who specialise in Tide Clocks and have also released a tide application for mobile phones, have taken it upon themselves to design and produce this lovely range of recycled clocks, the backplate of which is made from the compressed remnants of the plastic cups.

Once the cups have been through the recycling process, the resulting material is dense and tough, somewhat resembling natural slate.

As well as the simple classic and traditional clock designs in the recycled range, the company also makes combination tide clocks in stainless steel.
